Lived Experience Telephone Support Service

Lived Experience Telephone Support Service (LETTS) offers free after-hours phone and web chat support for your mental health, every day of the year, including holidays.

Whether you are seeking information, guidance on navigating mental health services, or just someone to talk to, their team is there for you. At LETSS, they provide follow-up support such as scheduled callbacks, wellbeing calls, and help connecting with other services.

Their staff are uniquely qualified, consisting of individuals who have personal experiences with mental health challenges or have cared for someone with such conditions. Trained in various fields like social work, psychology and counselling, their peer workers use their lived experiences to empathise and provide genuine support, ensuring a safe space for you to share your concerns.

Who can access the LETSS service?

Anyone within the metropolitan Adelaide community can access LETSS. This includes:

- Carers and family members of people with mental health conditions

- Anyone seeking information about mental health services or needing emotional support

Lutheran Care Counselling

Lutheran Care offers counselling services for individuals, couples and families who may be experiencing challenges or difficulties.

They offer professional support to people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures with their trained and experienced counsellors. They offer a range of different types of counselling, providing the flexibility for people to choose the service that best suits their current needs.

Counselling can assist you with:

- Clarifying your concerns

Sessions usually last from 1 – 1½ hours

Their Services Include:

- Personal counselling for issues such as personal concerns, crisis, depression, guilt, fear, anger, loss and grief, abuse and domestic violence

- Family and Relationships Services

- Specialised Family Violence Services

- Marriage and relationship counselling

- Support through separation or divorce

- Assistance to families/parenting support

Service will not be refused based on inability to pay, however reduced fees must be negotiated with the manager prior to counselling sessions upon proof of hardship.

Counselling can be arranged via their Blair Athol, Barossa Valley (Tanunda), Kent Town and Murraylands (outreach) sites.

If your individual support requirements fall outside of their scope of practice, you may be referred to another agency or practice. This is to ensure that you receive the most appropriate support to meet your goals and needs.

The SA Health Mental Health Triage Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This service:

- is the main point of access to state funded mental health services

- can provide advice and information in a mental health emergency or crisis situation

- is staffed by mental health clinicians

- will assess and refer to acute response teams where appropriate.

NewAccess for Small Business Owners

Beyond Blue’s NewAccess for Small Business Owners is a guided self-help mental health coaching program.

NewAccess is free and confidential and available nationally by phone or video call. No GP referral is required. It can help you reduce stress and overwhelm from everyday life stressors like running a small business, relationships, health or loneliness.

Over 6 sessions, your mental health coach will work with you using straightforward problem-solving approaches. All mental health coaches are specially trained and have a small business background so they understand your unique challenges.

You can enquire if you:

- are 18 years and over

- own a small business, or are a sole trader with 20 employees or fewer

- are not currently seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Regional Access is a free online and phone counselling service for people who are feeling the pressures and stresses of everyday life.

The Regional Access counselling service is available for anyone who lives or works in regional, rural or remote South Australia (i.e. outside of the Adelaide metropolitan region).

Professionally trained counsellors will listen and help you to develop strategies to manage what is causing you to feel stressed or overwhelmed. They can help with:

- Anger management

- Anxiety

- Financial worries

- Grief and loss

- Hopelessness

- Isolation and loneliness

- Low self-esteem

- Relationship issues and family problems

- Short-term depression

RightByYou is a mental health resource for friends of young people aged 13 and over, who are showing varying signs of suicidal thoughts. It has been designed for young people, by young people.

RightByYou's focus is on supporting and guiding young people on how to help their friends. They offer practical resources and key information about what to do when a friend may be expressing thoughts of suicide.
