AnglicareSA Specialised Family Violence Service

The Specialised Family Violence Service is based at Christies Beach and Hindmarsh. They support families affected by family violence, including children who experience or witness it.

The service is available to families, parents, children, and individuals who need support in navigating and overcoming the impact of family violence. The service also works with individuals who use violence, helping them make positive changes while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all family members.

Supports include:

- Support for families impacted by family violence.

- Assistance for children affected by or witnessing violence.

- Programs to help individuals change harmful behaviours.

- Referrals to additional support services as needed.

Australia Post offers free 12-month mail redirection for victims of domestic violence within Australia.

Services Include:

Cedar Health Service

Provides domestic and family violence healthcare and support to people 16 years and over.

Cedar Health Service provides free specialised healthcare to address the health impacts of domestic and family violence.

Supports include:

- Comprehensive medical care.

- Health checks and assessment.

- Holistic health and safety assessments.

- Health planning and referral through nurse clinics.

- Social Work counselling.

- Aboriginal Clinical Healthcare.

- Culturally safe healthcare (in collaboration with Medical, Nursing and Social Work).

- Culturally sensitive group programs.

Don't Become That Man

Early intervention and prevention programs for men who have concerns around controlling and violent behaviours.

Trained Intervention Counsellors are available to provide support and intervention, specialising in evidence-based engagement with men, with the safety of women and children central to all.

Supports include:

- Counselling for men who are concerned or use controlling or violent behaviours.

- Information for women around men's use of violence and access to supports.

- Family and friends of people who are using or experiencing violence.

- Referral for professionals.

- Crisis accommodation program.

Escabags

Escabags Ltd is an Australian registered charity who distribute ‘Escape Bags’ for victims fleeing domestic and family abuse.

Each ‘Escape Bag’ contains high-quality products as they understand the importance of feeling comforted and worthy in a crisis. Their ‘Escape Bags’ are not gender-specific and, by providing two variations, ‘Parent and Child’ and ‘Single Adult’, they proudly cater for ALL victims of abuse.

They are free and available at various locations across South Australia. All the organisations who have opted to become stockists of their ‘Escape Bags’ are wonderfully caring and empathetic people – please do not feel afraid when asking any one of them for an ‘Escape Bag’.

Financial Abuse

Financial Independence Hub

The Financial Independence Hub is a free, confidential, on-going support for people who have experienced financial abuse.

Your FIH coach will support you as long as you need it. Some people just need to talk things through a bit. Some people need more support. Your FIH coach will listen to you and help you sort out how to move forward. They can also refer you to other services, attend appointments with you, help you work out a budget or negotiate debt. YOU decide how they can support you.

Services include:

- helping you feel more confident about dealing with money and making decisions

- be more in control of your finances

- find it easier to manage things independently

- work through debt and options to reduce it
