Birthline Pregnancy Support

If you are pregnant or think you might be, it is completely normal to be unsure of your next steps. Birthline offers a number of counselling options and other supportive services to assist you in what you need, to make an empowered and informed decision.

All counselling sessions are completely free, confidential, and conducted by trained counsellors who truly care for you and your wellbeing.

Their Services Include:

- 24-Hour Phone Counselling

Free and confidential access for non-directive counselling, relevant information, resources and practical help.

- Face to Face Counselling

This is offered to anyone who wants to build a trusting relationship with one of their trained counsellors. They are there to listen to you in a judgment-free setting in order to provide you with the support you need whether you’re facing a specific issue, dealing with overwhelming emotions, or simply in search of a confidant.

- Pregnancy Counselling

For women who are ready to have a discussion regarding considering keeping their child, offering their child for adoption, or having an abortion. They will speak with you openly, honestly, and without judgment so that you have what you need to make an informed decision.

- Post-Abortion Counselling

At Birthline, they recognise that abortion could be considered pregnancy loss. They provide resources to women who are suffering from emotional distress following an abortion. Whether you had an abortion several weeks or years ago, post-abortion counselling can help you to find freedom, hope and healing from your pain.

BISA Connect

BISA Connect is an initiative of Brain Injury SA offering a time-limited block of therapy to adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI), who are without a source of funding or experiencing a funding shortfall for particular supports.

This clinic will be led by an interdisciplinary team of allied health students which will operate across an 8-week block of interdisciplinary support, at least 3 times a year, providing individual and group-based service. BISA Connect will support clients with a brain injury with their short-term goals, and undertaking suitable goal orientated assessments that may also be used to support in accessing and connecting with future funding options.

This Service is for:

Adults 18–65 years, with an acquired brain injury (ABI) or traumatic brain injury (TBI) who:

- Need evidence of the impact of their disability to support their application for NDIS funding, but are unable to pay for access reports

- Waiting for their NDIS plan to come through after approval (e.g. on discharge from hospital)

- Require information, education and support on concussion management.

Types of services:

To support you in making a referral to BISA Connect, please use the following as a guide for service/support options available through this clinic for people with an ABI or concussion:

- Recommendations for everyday assistive equipment

- Fatigue management

- Functional reports to support applications for funding

- Education and information about ABI and living with an ABI

- Time-limited therapy under supervision of Allied Health Professionals (where not currently funded).

This is a free service to those that meet the eligibility criteria.

Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online

Counselling Online is a free, confidential service that provides 24/7 support to people affected by alcohol or drug use across Australia.

Counselling can support you at any stage of help-seeking, whether you’re:

- Seeking support for the first time.

- Waiting to get into treatment.

- Getting treatment but needing some extra support, particularly after-hours.

- In recovery and wanting to connect with others.

- Managing lapses or relapses.

- Wanting to share your experience and support others.

- Affected by, or supporting someone who uses alcohol or drugs.

Their counsellors will listen to you, provide you with the information you need and help you figure out what you can do next. If you want, they can connect you to appropriate support.

SA Ambulance Service Ambulance Cover is a membership program that helps protect South Australians from the cost of emergency and non-emergency ambulance services.

Ambulance Cover provides financial protection so you don’t have to pay unexpected ambulance fees if you require transport or treatment. It offers different levels of cover for individuals and families, with options that can include emergency-only or broader Australia-wide coverage depending on the membership type.

Australian Government Private Health Insurance Rebate

The Private Health Insurance Rebate is a government payment that helps reduce the cost of private health insurance for eligible Australians through a premium discount or tax offset.

This rebate helps make private health insurance more affordable by contributing to your premiums. It is income-tested and can be claimed either upfront through your insurer or as a tax offset when you lodge your tax return.

Carer Gateway

Carer Gateway is a national Australian Government program that provides free support and services to unpaid carers of people with disability, illness, mental health conditions, or age-related needs.

Carer Gateway connects carers with free, tailored support to help manage the demands of caring, improve wellbeing, and plan for the future. Services are delivered through local providers and include counselling, coaching, peer support, and respite options.

Carers SA

Carers SA is a South Australian organisation that supports unpaid carers by providing information, counselling, respite, and practical services to help them in their caring role.

Carers SA is the lead Carer Gateway provider in South Australia, offering free support services for people who care for family or friends with disability, illness, mental health conditions, or age-related needs. It helps carers access emotional support, respite, coaching, and tailored assistance to improve wellbeing and sustain their caring role.

- Carer coaching and planning

- Peer support groups

- Emergency respite and carer breaks

- Tailored support packages

- Support for young carers

- Information and referrals

Child Dental Benefits Schedule

With the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), your child may be able to access part of, or the full cost of some basic dental services.

Children 17 years and under can receive a range of basic dental services up to $1,095 over 2 calendar years, that will help keep their teeth strong and gums healthy.

Basic dental services covered by CDBS include:

- check-ups

- X-rays

- cleaning

- fissure sealing

- fillings

- root canals

- extractions.

A child can access the scheme when all the following apply:

- they're eligible for Medicare

- they're between 0 and 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year

- and get an eligible payment (e.g. Family Tax Benefit A) at least once that calendar year from Services Australia.

How to access it:

When making a dental appointment for your child, ask about CDBS. Your dentist can check if your child can use CDBS and the amount you may have left to use, as well as any possible additional fees.

You can also use the scheme at SA Dental Clinics and participating private dentists.

Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS)

The Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) provides financial assistance to eligible Australians to help cover the cost of continence products for permanent and severe incontinence.

CAPS is an Australian Government payment program that supports people with permanent and severe bladder or bowel conditions by helping reduce the cost of continence products. Eligible participants can receive an annual payment to purchase products from a supplier of their choice.

- Annual or biannual government payments

- Support for permanent bladder or bowel conditions
